My pets are in the process of acquiring new learning skills. I introduced a new canary and a new puppy to my old parakeets and my 14 year old lady dog. Perhaps the puppy is undergoing the roughest learning, he has to learn to suppress his exuberance with Mima. She lets him range behind her, but if he gets in her way she growls or tugs his ear slightly. For the 14 yr. old it is also a new learning for her to allow this playful puppy in her home. In fact I think it has brightened her days, but she would never admit this yet.
As a life long learner I know it takes 2 things, make yourself think out of the norm and perserverance. I guess I feel that taking responsibility for your learning is the hardest, because any learning that you truly receive has to be through hard work. As with my dogs it is important that someone doesn't keep you behind or nip you if you have a new idea. I guess the use of new technology is a positive in my learning. I remember when a computer was discussed as a thing that only scientists used and it filled a couple of rooms. Here we are today communicating en mass. Communication is the hottest learning skill there is.
